Habitability
What is it to think the planet? In 2026 I spent many a month on a planetarity syllabus, and it ended up in habitability, which became the core concept of the inquiry. A planet stays habitable while its systems keep sustaining one another. Living things produce that condition as much as they need it, so I call it a metabolic achievement.
I call the method epistry, a word I've used for a decade. Epistry is philosophy when it becomes executable, so this room holds more than essays. Field notes follow a real case or sketch a working design, like a Ministry for the Distant Future that hears nothing that resolves inside a thousand years. Syllabus entries take one sentence from another thinker and push on it.

Themes: where to start walking
habitable? We have to start with the cosmos, ask about planetary habitability, dig through the Earth's geological history and only then arrive at the burning questions of the Anthropocene. Living things make habitability as much as they need it.
Start walkingWho maintains habitability?8Sovereignty, as inherited, says who gets to decide. I want the continuing fact that authority rests on. In my protocol, a sovereign that loses standing over its rivers and fixes its rivers gets its rivers back.
Start walkingAcross what durations?5Human politics runs on quarters and four-year terms; the planet keeps longer books. These pieces try to give future beings standing in present decisions, a thousand years out.
Start walkingIn the face of what otherness?5Spivak says the planet is in the species of alterity and we inhabit it on loan. Fungi and forests have their own Umwelt. "On loan" needs a lender, or at least something that functions like one.
Start walkingEpistry7Epistry is philosophy when it becomes executable. Aristotle inspires my head, while Nagarjuna touches my heart. The patterns are the Field Note, the Institutional Prototype, the Draft Protocol and the Speculative World.
